Your State Representatives

State Representative Josiah J.

“I choose to be strong in school by being around my friends, being myself and standing up for people when they don’t get treated right.”

-Josiah

Why Josiah J. was Nominated:

I would like to nominate Josiah. Josiah is an outstanding child and his tireless efforts in addressing and raising awareness about the issues of bullying in his community goes above and beyond. Josiah is one of those students who is a natural leader and shines amongst his peers. He is an intelligent, charismatic, hard-working young boy with a strong desire to consistently see, do and want more for himself and those around him.

State Representative Sam P.

“Being true to myself means that I help other people bring out their personalities since I really enjoy getting to know other people. I can be kind of shy, but once you get to know me, I’m crazy fun.”

-Sam

Why Sam was Nominated:

I nominate Sam. She floats seamlessly between social groups and both doesn’t contribute to mindless gossip and deflects it. She is great in arguments and is always able to “play the devil’s advocate” and serves as a true empathetic member of her class.

State Representative Thomas D.

“I’ve experienced where I was the bully and where I was bullied, and I don’t like either of them. I want to help people not get bullied, or bully others, to make them feel the same way I do now. Which is good.”

-Thomas

Why Thomas was Nominated:

I would like to nominate Thomas as a Be Strong Representative. Thomas has shared with me a situation from his past when he was bullied himself as well as a time when he, along with others bullied another student. This year our 8th grade class faces many challenges, most of all being kind and respectful to each other. Many students are struggling with a variety issues, both at home and at school. Thomas possesses great potential as a role model and student leader for his peers. He has made tremendous strides in setting a positive example for other students. His unique perspective in understanding both sides of the bullying issue will help him to make connections with all students to make positive changes for our 8th grade class. I commend his efforts to be a student leader and support his desire to Be Strong!
