How was Be Strong established, by who and why?

Be Strong is a non-profit company that was established to promote an anti-bullying prevention campaign that targets 6th grade – college level students and their families. Be Strong was founded by Roy Moore of Boca Raton, Florida because of personal experiences and then learning about the widespread tragic effects of bullying. One statistic that was particularly troubling to Mr. Moore was that 8.6% of American 9th – 12th graders attempted suicide one or more times in the previous twelve months and bullying played a key role in over half of those cases.

Is Be Strong a Non-Profit?

Yes, Be Strong is a Florida 501 (c)(3) located at 692B South Military Trail, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33432

About Keynote Speaker, Nick Vujicic

Nick Vujicic is the Australian-born YouTube sensation and celebrated worldwide speaker who has shared his amazing life story to full-capacity crowds in venues across 54 countries. But Nick’s story wasn’t always so glamorous. Born without limbs, Nick was bullied so badly during his childhood that he attempted suicide at just 10 years old.

Fortunately, Nick survived and soon began to see that he had a purpose in life. As a young man, he learned to combine his incredible talent as a speaker with his passion for helping others. The result: a powerful, relatable story that took the world by storm. Nick began sharing his personal journey of despair-turned-hope on YouTube and with local audiences, and quickly became a highly sought-out speaker. Today, he travels the world delivering his message to sold-out crowds.

Nick has a unique ability to connect with people of all ages, races and religions and has made a tremendous impact across the globe.

How can support groups and schools get involved?

By going to the Be Strong website, bestrong.global, and registering as having an interest as a social service provider. Someone with Be Strong will then get in touch.

Do you support anti-bullying efforts in the LGBT Community?

Be Strong believes that all students have a right to physical and emotional safety regardless of sexual orientation or a host of other labels that might be attached to students.

Is Be Strong a political or faith-based program?

No. Be Strong is dedicated to working with students from 6th grade through college age. Our philosophy is to help EVERY child in need regardless of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, or any other label. We believe all students have a right to physical and emotional safety.

How is Be Strong different from other anti-bullying efforts?

Three key differences:

  1. Nick Vujicic is the one delivering the introductory message of the organization. Nick has an uncanny ability to get students to reconsider, if they are a bully, decide to see something and do or say something, if they are a bystander, and reach out for help if they are a student in crisis or a dark place.
  2. Nick’s message will be simulcast throughout the country reaching millions of students – creating a sense of unity of change on the important topic of bullying. This message will serve as a catalyst for change and raise awareness of tools and organizations that are willing and interested in helping students in need.
  3. The Be Strong App is a set of tools designed to connect people of all ages when someone needs help, requires information, wants to share their experience or wishes to notify authorities.

* Be Strong is an umbrella organization and a uniting force seeking to offer assistance to other groups seeking to impact anti-bullying, student depression and suicide prevention efforts.

Simulcast Sign Up FAQs

What is the cost to the schools to participate?

There is NO COST to the schools to participate in the Be Strong simulcast.

What is your target age group for the student population?

6th grade – college level students and their families.

How long is the presentation?

Approximately 60 minutes in length. Please note, because this will be a LIVE event, it is possible that circumstances beyond our control could cause a slight delay in the start or run or ending of the planned event.

What is your after-event care for students?

Students can choose multiple paths. Students can seek help from school officials, counselors, and teachers. In addition, students may choose to download the Be Strong app that includes references for various social services in their areas as well as review a listing of non-profits that address their school.

What are the technical requirements for the live stream to be most effective?

Users will need to have completed the school registration form, be logged in to the school simulcast page under the same user they signed up to register for the school simulcast, and have a computer that has a download speed of at least 5Mbps, (higher if they are rebroadcasting throughout the school). The latest version of Adobe Flash player will need to be installed and ideally, the computer will use a WIRED Internet connection instead of a wireless/Wi-Fi connection. Firefox or Chrome are the preferred web browsers – older versions of Internet Explorer may not work. If planning to show the simulcast in a large room, we recommend connecting the computer to a projector and sound system.

How many locations can we set up to watch the live stream?

There are an unlimited number of opportunities to connect to the live feed. Assuming the technology is in place, schools can provide the link to each classroom, multiple auditoriums, etc. Some schools may use this program as part of their digital/distance learning day and provide the link to each student to watch remotely. You can also share the link with parents, so they can also listen in.

How do we know this is going to work in our environment?

The Be Strong team will conduct a TEST of the live stream for all of our participating. An email will be sent to the technical contact and principal of every school that has registered with information on test dates and times, instructions for connecting to the live feed, and who to contact in the event of a problem. This should allow for any necessary changes to be made prior to the live assembly.

Who should I contact if I still have questions?

Send any general questions to ContactUs@BeStrong.Global or simulcast questions to Simulcast@BeStrong.Global.
