Creating a Transparent, Secure, Sustainable Food System for the Future Through Collaboration.

We all have a role to play in creating a better food system. The SMALL CHANGE BIG IMPACT FOOD SUMMIT was held at Harvard University on April 3-4, co-presented by Hormel Foods and Harvard University Dining Services. The revolutionary summit served as a springboard for enacting changes that will have a positive impact for everyone.

“At it’s core, our food journey is about being not only inspired by the food we make but the difference we are making on this world.”

Small Change Big Impact Food Summit Topics of Discussion

Be Strong’s Executive Director, Ashleigh E. Cromer was in attendance, representing Be Strong, the organization’s student leaders, and school partners across the country. Cromer, along with a select few other educational and non-profit leaders-of-change, spoke on a panel addressing food security across continents, communities and campuses.

Despite plentiful production of affordable food, food insecurity is everywhere.

Be Strong’s free mobile app offers resources, support and intervention for those affected by social aggression, depression and more, as well as a zip-code driven portal that connects users to local resources. “The connection and relevance are undeniable,” said Cromer. “The number one search by students using the Be Strong app is for access to food. The abundance of food in America should far outweigh the obstacles involved in getting it to our young people and communities who need it most.”
