Meet Ashvik, Be Strong’s September 2024 Student of the Month!
Ashvik is an enthusiastic dreamer – having been on the planet for 11 years, he’s honed his skills as a distinguished pianist and aspires to be help others professionally as a neurologist. Having been a Be Strong Student Representative for nine months, he’s grown as an individual and a leader, helped many fellow students, and laid the foundation to help countless more.
“Mental and emotional health is a pressing issue today, and if left unaddressed, it will only worsen as we age,” Ashvik shared. “At school, I’ve witnessed a concerning lack of confidence, emotional instability, and anxiety among children, including myself.”
Having identified the problem, Ashvik began looking for a way that he could help himself and his struggling peers.
“Sometimes the world feels like a band with no conductor,” he compared. “Society can play beautiful music; they just need to be led. When I was seeking a program to empower myself, I discovered Be Strong. It not only equipped me with a variety of tools and resources but also allowed me to share them with others, which is the most empowering aspect of the program.”
Ashvik immersed himself in Be Strong, attending trainings and learning everything he could from his fellow leaders. “It’s not just a program, it’s a community,” he said.
To expand his newly found community, Ashvik started a We Dine Together group at his school. Initially, the goal was to make sure no students felt isolated, specifically at lunch when a lack of structure makes it easier to habitually break off routine groups. Now, with 10 dedicated members and growing, they’re fostering an undeniable sense of belonging both on and off campus.
“No one should feel alone; we are all in this together. We’ve made friends, shared stories, and, most importantly, made others feel important. It feels good to have started a group and then see the outcome. Watching them learn and talk about something that can change the world feels good.” Ashvik continued, “I am also creating a structured plan to integrate Be Strong’s philosophy into our school in the future. Everyone can benefit from these ideas.”
Ashvik explained that Be Strong’s free mobile app is one of his group’s go-to tools. “It’s a valuable resource,” he said. “It provides lessons and skills that have been instrumental in my personal growth. The immediate help option is particularly useful; it’s comforting to know that we’re just one click away from support. Even my parents have found it helpful for managing stress. Regardless of age, the Be Strong App is a game changer. I’m proud to have shared it with my peers.”
Looking back, Ashvik shared, “Be Strong has completely changed my perception. I now exude confidence and compassion. It has given me genuine happiness—the joy of caring and sharing.”
