From Vine Grove, meet Kentucky Representative Angel, Be Strong’s October 2020 Student of the Month!
“I know what it’s like to feel like no one’s listening to you or no one understands you, and I strongly believe that no one should ever have to feel that way. I choose to be someone to talk to, a voice, a leader, and I choose to Be Strong!” – Angel
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Understanding that much social aggression is deescalated or even prevented through respect, patience, understanding, empathy, gratitude and kindness, it’s only fitting that we recognize Angel as our Student of the Month. She makes it a point to live out these traits daily but also to encourage others to join her in making a difference.
With everything that’s been going on this year – inequalities, injustices, global health crises, climate change and criticism surrounding everything – many people have found themselves feeling and speaking negatively. Instead of following suit and participating in those experienced negative behaviors, Angel is challenging us all to be more positive – and leading by example.
On social media, Angel invites other users to see things more optimistically through posts like, “Say something positive about 2020,” and shares some of her recent victories such as learning to master her happiness in adversity, mental and emotional growth, and making new friendships by actively choosing human connection.
In person, she’s no different. Angel is the kind of friend, acquaintance or even stranger that will do whatever she can to help you without expecting or wanting anything in return.
“I love being a part of this community where everyone has the desire to help each other.”
