State Representative Jayden W.

Jayden Student Profile Image“Being Strong, to me, is going out of my comfort zone to help others be happy. I try to do that every day and am always working on improving my methods.”

-Jayden

Why Jayden Was Nominated:

Jayden has a friendly disposition and is well-known and well-accepted by his peers. He is not shy. He is also a good student role model. Jayden has a heart for those who may be struggling or going through a hard time. He approached me about project he called Spread the Warmth over the winter. He went to local schools and started a collection drive for cold weather gear to give the disadvantaged in our community. Jayden will be a wonderful ambassador for Be Strong/We Dine Together. He is fearless and won’t hesitate to grow this organization on our campus. I believe that an initiative like We Dine Together can change the culture of our school, and Jayden is just the student to make it happen. He is tenacious and won’t give up easily.

State Representative Dorian W.

Dorian - LA Student Rep Profile Image“I choose to Be Strong in my school and my community by inspiring others, standing up for them and including them.”

-Dorian

Why Dorian Was Nominated:

Dorian learned at a young age that it is important to care about others and to be involved in the community. When hanging out with friends, he heard many stories about how they were bullied. He tried to stand up for classmates at school when they were bullied, but he was discouraged, being called a “tattletale” or told to sit down. This upset Dorian, who wanted to help. Dorian wrote and had published a book, called Dreamers Against Bullying, donating some of the proceeds to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. Dorian also became the leader and organizer of Bikers Against Bullying, a local youth event that holds bike nights in his community. He takes pride in speaking at several schools and has created dance skits related to bullying prevention. Dorian wants other kids to know that they can stand up for themselves and others who are experiencing bullying, saying, “I just want to inspire others to do good things and let them know it is okay to speak up.” Dorian has received two proclamations to increase public awareness about the severity of bullying, one signed by Tommy Eschete, Mayor of Thibodaux, the other by John Bel Edwards, Governor of Louisiana. With his campaign #bekindpassiton, Dorian wants to spread kindness to all. A member of Big Dreamers Youth Foundation since the age of 5, he knows how to step up and be a leader. Dorian has also worked with the leaders of the local American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to speak up against bullycide. I believe he can help bring forth change for both youth and adults in our community.

State Representative Alvin C.

Alvin C - Louisiana Student Rep Profile Image“I choose to Be Strong by being a positive influence and following our school’s expectations at all times.”

-Alvin

Why Alvin Was Nominated:

Alvin has a radiant personality; he is truly joyful. Being previously home-schooled, he came to a new place, filled with new faces, and had to begin making friends. He knows what being the new kid feels like. Alvin is always thoughtful, considerate and kind. His heart and character are second to none. It is with great pleasure that I nominate Alvin for Be Strong’s student ambassador program.

State Representative Jordan R.

Alvin C - Louisiana Student Rep Profile Image“I have experienced bullying first hand whether that was for my glasses, my braces, my hair or the color of my skin. Bullying has hurt me in many ways but with the help of my mom and dad, I was able to find tools to overcome my bullying experience.”

– Jordan

Why Jordan Was Nominated:

Jordan was bullied at a young age. Since then, she has been a voice for young girls teaching them to value and love themselves. She even published a book called The Talk I Never Had for girls. The Talk I Never Had is a look into the life of a pre-teen girl named Jordan. Within this book, Jordan shares her diary and thoughts as her body begins a metamorphosis right before her eyes. She is not afraid to ask God those hard, confusing questions about His creation and her body. Jordan shares relatable, encouraging and empowering stories of embracing your body as the valuable treasure it is. She will inspire each girl to write her own hygiene plan, create a HelloFlo calendar and develop a life verse. Through conversations with her mom, Jordan learns the proper anatomical names of her body parts, the stages of puberty to adulthood and, most of all, that the Creator of all things created her and her body for a divine purpose. Jordan embraces the truth that she is fearfully and wonderfully made. The Talk I Never Had is meant to encourage young girls (ages 8-13) and mothers to have “the talk.” Jordan is a God-fearing young lady with a compassionate heart. Jordan attends a Lafayette Parish school where she loves to play piano, read, write and draw. Outside of school, Jordan loves gymnastics and cooking. Also, Jordan is a student at CYT (Christian Youth Theatre) in Lafayette, Louisiana. Jordan believes every girl was created to shine. And when you ask her other classmates they say the same.

State Representative Jazz C.

Alvin C - Louisiana Student Rep Profile Image“I was able to accomplish so much more when I did not worry about other people. As I moved from middle school to high school, bullying did not stop. It’s hard to talk about that because I don’t want to remember that.”

– Jazz

Why Jazz Was Nominated:

Jazz created a program “you are” as an 8th grader to encourage young girls to believe in themselves and to be kind and celebrate the uniqueness that other girls have rather than being mean or bullying. She has been recognized by a mentoring program for her work towards building positivity among her peers.
